Gubbio – Visit by Students October 2012

Ten ‘A Level’ students from St Peters and Hinchingbrooke accompanied by two teachers and two Hgta members (Malcolm & Trish) took part in an educational trip to our (soon to be) twin town of Gubbio, Italy.

The visit was over 5days during October and local families hosted the students with teenagers of a similar age. As part of the programme students attended a local school and observed the big difference in the style of teaching and number of subjects studied.

The students also had a guided tour of Gubbio by pupils studying English, travel and tourism and later went on to visit the nearby Franciscan town of Assisi. On another day a visit to Perugia and tour of the ancient buildings, churches and Etruscan relics was undertaken.

Overall the students had a packed itinerary, learned much about the history of the region and by staying with local families discovered a different culture in which religion, family and food played a vital part.
