Medieval Food Tasting 28th April 2012

As part of the Godmanchester 800 celebrations Hgta hosted a medieval food tasting event on Saturday 28th April 2012 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Godmanchester.About 40 members and guests met for a glass of wine and an evening talk by Food Historian Monica Askey, on medieval ingredients and their uses.  

The audience learnt of the foods and oils brought here in roman times which fell into disuse when the Romans left and later the importance of the trading ships bringing spices for the cooks of the day.  There was an opportunity for tasting and a raffle to round off the evening.
