Two Chinese companies are to build a large cement plant in Tajikistan. The plant is expected to have a rated capacity of up to 1Mta. According to Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), a protocol of intention on construction of the cement plant was signed in Urumqi, China, last week.
The rivers of Tajikistan, such as the Vakhsh and the Panj, have great hydropower potential, and the government has focused on attracting investment for projects for internal use and electricity exports. Tajikistan is home to the hydroelectric power station Nurek, the second highest dam in the world.
